Biography

I joined as a Research Associate on the WISERD Education, Language & Identity project while completing my doctoral thesis in July 2016. The ESRC funded project examined sub-state international democracy promotion while based at the International Politics department at Aberystwyth University. I also hold an MScEcon in Welsh Politics and Society, and had previously spent over five years working at the National Assembly for Wales.

Paradiplomacy; Democracy Promotion; Democratization; Welsh Politics; Identity; Education policy

Current Research

I am currently working alongside the other members of the Education, Language & Identity project, exploring understandings of identity that young people acquire from statutory and voluntary educational institutions.

Poverty and Food Banks in Wales

Poverty and the rise of food banks in Wales were the focus of research shared at WISERD’s latest civil society seminar, held at Cardiff last night. PhD student, David Beck and Dr Hefin Gwilym from Bangor University’s School of Social Sciences presented findings from their research exploring the experience of food poverty in Wales.
