Biography

I am currently Senior Lecturer of Sociolinguistics at Sheffield Hallam University, teaching sociolinguistics and related topics, and conducting research into sociolinguistics and language policy within the Humanities Research Centre. I have an Honorary Research Fellowship with WISERD (affiliated through Cardiff University), and I help organise events within the Language, Culture and Identity Research Network.

I've previously lectured at the University of Turku, Finland, and Åbo Akademi University, Finland. I've also worked as a Research Manager for Caer Las Cymru, a charity in south Wales. Prior to all that, I gained my PhD in 2009 from the University of Essex (funded by the UK Economic and Social Research Council).
