Chapter Theatre, Market Road, Canton, Cardiff, CF5 1QE, United Kingdom.

The middle classes run the arts; they define value, they define excellence, they define what the next new thing is. Don't they? Then what are the possibilities for change in an industry that undervalues and distances itself from working-class people - culturally, socially and economically?

Join our event when we'll ask what defines us and our 'place' and explore how the making of art with, for and by people who often feel under represented might be possible. Using theatre we ask - can arts offer ways of both engaging working-class communities and generating different ways of seeing, knowing and acting? Or is class the elephant in the room?

This event uses theatre as a way of presenting ideas about social class and art, and as a mechanism for facilitating debate and exchange. It's an opportunity to bring together people from government, public bodies, the voluntary sector, community organisations and communities across South Wales with artists in conversations about what art, and theatre in particular, could do to inspire, include and make change.
