Professor John Morgan was invited to a symposium on ’Twenty Years of Putin: How has Russia changed’ held at the Russian and East European Centre at St Antony’s College, University of Oxford, on 7th December 2019.

The invitation symposium brought together Russian and other international experts on contemporary Russia from academia, diplomacy, and international business.

Professor Morgan recently published Civil Society, Social Change, and a New Popular Education in Russia, with Dr. Irina Trofimova and Professor Grigori A. Kliucharev, of the Institute of Sociology, Russian Academy of Sciences (Routledge, London and New York, 2019). The book has been nominated by the publisher, Routledge, for the Alexander Nove Prize 2020 of the British Association of Slavonic and East European Studies.

Professor Morgan visited St Antony’s again on 21-24 January 2020 for research at the Russian and East European Centre, and to present a seminar to the Oxford School of Global and Area Studies on ‘Cultural Cold War Front? The USA, the USSR, and UNESCO’, based on his Leverhulme Emeritus Fellowship research.
