Continuing our partnership with the National Centre for Research Methods

WISERD is among the nine partner centres who will continue to work with the National Centre for Research Methods (NCRM) to deliver a new phase of innovative training and capacity-building activities. These will be in the application of core and advanced research methods techniques.

This news follows today’s announcement from the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) that they will be investing £2.8m in the NCRM over five years until 2024. Continuing into a new phase, the principal aim will be to increase research methods capability in the social sciences and beyond.

Professor Gary Higgs, WISERD co-director and lead on training and capacity building, said: “For over ten years, WISERD has assisted with the delivery of NCRM courses. We look forward to continuing our collaboration with the NCRM in training needs analysis, facilitating and contributing to courses for social scientists in Wales. Also, in developing training for non-academic audiences and civil society organisations (CSOs) where WISERD has particular knowledge and expertise.”

You can read more about this news on the ESRC website, including information about forthcoming calls for small development grants and larger, substantive methodological research projects.

The latest NCRM course, ‘Quant for Qual’, was delivered this week in Cardiff.
