Whilst there is a plethora of online and printed information and guidance on social care policy and good practice, there is evidence to suggest that the access and use of evidence in service and workforce development is not a straightforward process.
Over the past few years, a range of approaches to support this work have been explored and developed, many of them being championed by agencies such as the Social Services Improvement Agency, the Care Council for Wales, the Social Care Institute for Excellence, Research into Practice and the Institute for Research and Innovation in Social Services in Scotland. From this work , there is a growing body of evidence to suggest that we need to develop a range of methods to support this effective use of evidence.
This event brought together a wide range of academic and practice experts in this area of work. The programme included workshops on action learning, the use of creative arts and web-based/mobile devices in supporting the effective use of evidence in both service and workforce development. It was of particular interest to people involved in service and workforce remodelling and development.
