Presented by Bertie Russell
Reflecting on the strategies necessary for a renewal of the the foundational economy, the FE Collective suggest that ‘radical change is only likely to come through a new politics of foundation alliance involving hybrid organisations with regional/local government, intermediary organisations and businesses working together’ (2018: 155).
Drawing on research underpinning a recent report for the think-tank Common Wealth, the aim of this session is to introduce an innovative approach to the design of such hybrid organisations – the Public-Common Partnership (PCP). The session will reflect on the role of PCPs as ‘maximalist innovations’ (Unger 2015) that draw the link between place-based innovations and broader systemic change.
