‘IN THE SYSTEM’
A research-based play on the barriers to accessing mental health services.

We warmly invite you to a special CPRN event at the Pierhead, Cardiff Bay, to experience a theatrical performance and discussion based on research data from a Cardiff University PhD project. The research, carried out by Dr. Rhiannon Lane, explored experiences of diagnosis and service access for adult mental health service users in Wales. Data from the study was interpreted by Reality Theatre to produce the script. Performed by professional actors, ‘In the System’ explores issues raised in the thesis surrounding mental health assessment and diagnosis, which was found to be an area of concern and anguish for service users.
We invite you to join us for the performance and post-performance group discussions to reflect on the issues raised in the play. We hope that the discussion, stimulated by the art, can inspire novel ways of understanding and engaging with these issues. If you are interested in mental health, make decisions about services, work in this area or use mental health services, we believe this event will be of interest to you and we would love for you to come along.
