The event will combine several distinct elements to provide an engaging and informative overview of the experience of disability at work.

This event launches the film Disability Talking: Stories of Disability at Work. The film explores the experience of disability at work. The screening will be followed by an introduction to recent research findings on measuring and understanding disability disadvantage at work. Four speakers will talk about their experience and participate in an audience-led panel discussion about disability disadvantage at work and the barriers and supports which influence this.

The speakers include:

– Dr Rhys Jones, an academic and TV presenter who will provide his personal experience of dyslexia

– Melanie Jameson, a trainer and consultant in reasonable adjustments to accommodate dyslexia in the workplace

– the legal team, Jenna Ide and Rajiv Bhatt, who represented Meseret Kumulchew in her case for disability discrimination against Starbucks.

This event is part of the ESRC Festival of Social Sciences.
