Cardiff University and the Wales Institute for Social & Economic Research, Data & Methods (WISERD) were commissioned by the Welsh Government to undertake an independent three-year evaluation of the Foundation Phase. The final report was published by the Welsh Government in 2015, and included 29 recommendations on a range of areas.
This one day practitioner conference provides an important opportunity for practitioners to discuss the recommendations from the evaluation and the implications these have for the future of the Foundation Phase. It is also designed to encourage the sharing of best practice amongst practitioners.
The day will consist of five workshops. Each will commence with a short presentation by members of the evaluation team. These will then be followed by small group roundtable discussions where participants will be encouraged to share their experiences of the Foundation Phase on each topic.
