WISERD Co-Director, Professor Paul Chaney has been named Chwarae Teg’s ‘Man of the Year’. The organisation recognised Professor Chaney “as a true advocate for gender equality through his writing and policy influence, which has had an impact on the lives of women in Wales and beyond.”
Chwarae Teg is Wales’ leading gender equality charity and holds the annual Womenspire Awards as a celebration of women in Wales. Professor Paul Chaney was one of three finalists in the ‘Man of the Year’ category out of 300 nominations, for his work on gender equality and public policy. This forms part of WISERD’s Civil Society research under the theme of ‘Individuals, Institutions and Governance’.
Earlier in the year, Professor Chaney presented his work at the House of Commons, as part of a presentation at the ESRC ‘Feminizing Politics: Voice, Access and Accountability’ seminar. His research was also recognised recently in an ESRC blog for International Women’s Day.
This year’s Womenspire Awards event took place on 21st June at the Wales Millennium Centre and was sponsored by Coleg y Cymoedd, the Chartered Management Institute and Sitka Recruitment. Read the press release on the Chwarae Teg website.
