Professor Chris Taylor, Co-Director of WISERD and WISERD Education, has been appointed to the HEFCW Student Opportunity and Achievement Committee. This is a new committee that will act as an advisory committee to HEFCW Council.
The remit of the Committee is to advise on student opportunity and achievement in higher education, including Welsh medium, initial teacher training, widening access, equality and diversity, and skills and employability, with the aim of ensuring that Welsh higher education meets the needs and expectations of learners and other stakeholders.
The appointment is for three year commencing from December 2015. Professor Taylor’s involvement follows on from the work he and WISERD Education colleagues has conducted into Widening Access to Higher Education in Wales, a project funded by the ESRC and HEFCW that completed its final report last month.
