Samuel is a Postdoctoral Researcher at Vanderbilt University in the Department of Economics and LGBT+ Policy Lab. Samuel received his PhD in Economics from Swansea University in 2020 and have since held positions at Swansea University, WISERD, Open University, and Vanderbilt University.

Samuel is an Applied Micro-Economist with a focus on Labour Economics, Health Economics, and LGBTQ+ Economics. Samuel has previously been published in journals such as Labour Economics, Economic Letters and Work, Employment, and Society.

Current Research

Samuel is currently working on several projects relating to the effects of LGBTQ+ policies on the outcomes of LGBTQ+ people. Samuel’s current research covers areas such as the effect of same-sex marriage legalization on political trust, the effect of gender affirming care on transgender health and the effect of the ACA Medicaid expansion on the health insurance coverage of sexual minorities.
