I manage linked administrative data research related to Post-16 and Higher Education research themes and support the development and progress of WISERD research projects using the SAIL Databank. I am on secondment from Welsh Government and funded by ADR Wales.
I have been seconded from the Administrative Data Research Unit (ADRU) within Welsh Government. I joined ADRU from the National Survey for Wales team in 2019. Since then I have managed delivery of research publications relating to Children Missing from Education (CME) as well as Supporting People and Flying Start programmes in Wales. During the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic I was responsible for multiple research strands, mainly related to Shielding and use of Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) to treat COVID-19 cases.
As a government statistical officer in 2016 I was seconded to Swansea University to develop research into chronic health conditions and wellbeing using the SAIL Databank. Prior to that secondment I worked on the Welsh Index of Multiple Deprivation (WIMD), Household Projections, and Local Government Finance, along with a further secondment to the Higher Education Funding Council for Wales in 2008. This in turn followed a move from London to Wales after starting my career in the Government Actuary’s Department and local government.
My qualifications include a BSc in Geography (University of Huddersfield, 1993) and MSc in Health Data Science (Swansea University, 2018).
