The questions raised by the webinar, Towards Justice: Responding to Past Harms, go to the heart of the purposes of national and international criminal justice systems. This is embedded in the very maintenance of social order – it protects victims and prevents future crime, and encourages us, as citizens, to trust the state with our safety and security rather than to take the law into our own hands.
