Mark Connolly is a Reader in Education in the School of Social Sciences. Mark completed his Masters and PhD at Cardiff University. Mark lectured at Cardiff Metropolitan University for five years before returning to Cardiff to take a senior lectureship role.
Mark’s main research interests are in relation to creativity in education and cultural policy. His other research focuses on range of educational projects relating to: outdoor and Forest School learning; routes into teaching; teacher education; professional leadership; children’s rights; children’s play. Mark been the Welsh representative on the council of the British Education Research Association and have been editor of the British Educational Research Journal.
Mark has completed a monograph for Palgrave MacMillan on Creativity and Educational, Urban and Cultural Policy in 2025. At present he is working on a book on Creativity and Artificial Intelligence to be published as part of the Palgrave MacMillan series in 2026.
