Presented by Katy Huxley.

Research often highlights the impact of poverty on educational attainment and employment outcomes. Within the Census 2011 and administrative education data collected by schools there are a number of measures and proxies of social class and economic circumstance. These include parental occupational (Census) and  whether children are eligible for Free School Meals (FSM, administrative school data). The aim of this session is to demonstrate that linking these sources of data together can enable comparison of these measures as predictors of pupil attainment. The session will discuss the methods and some preliminary findings from data for pupils in schools in Wales.
