On the anniversary of the first COVID lockdown, this free public event will discuss the impact of the pandemic in Rural Wales, how communities and public services have responded, and needs for the post-COVID recovery. Panellists will reflect on perspectives relating to rural business, culture, healthcare, public services and vulnerable social groups.

The event will start with a short overview presentation by Professor Michael Woods (Co-Director, CWPS, Aberystwyth University), covering research findings on the impact of COVID-19 on the rural economy in Wales and recommendations for the post-pandemic recovery from the Rural Vision for Wales, co-produced with the WLGA Rural Forum.

This will be followed by short contributions from panellists including:

  • Guy Evans (The Care Society)
  • Dr. Wyn Morris (Aberystwyth Business School, Aberystwyth University)
  • Dr. Caroline Turner (Powys County Council)
  • TBC (Healthcare sector)

The event will be chaired by Dr. Anwen Elias (Co-Director, CWPS, Aberystwyth University).

There will be an opportunity for questions and answers.

The event will be bilingual with live translation.
