Tracking the destinations and outcomes of Year 11 pupils following their completion of Key Stage 4 is not straightforward. Data related to those who attend school sixth forms and those who attend colleges of Further Education (encompassing those registered for work-based learning) is collected separately. This separation is, for the most part, retained in many of the official statistics that are derived from these datasets. This presentation provides an overview of an integrated database that attempts to provide a comprehensive picture of the transition to post-compulsory education in Wales. This allows us to explore how different educational pathways followed by different groups of pupils following their completion of compulsory education.
