The workshop is designed for PhD students and ECRs who are working with mixed data sources, as well as those who are considering the mixing of data sources.

  • The workshop aims to provide a thorough grounding to those planning to use mixed data sources in their research.
  • It aims to highlight the theoretical debates underpinning the use of different methodological approaches.
  • It explores the practical implications of using mixed methods from data collection through to analyses, presentation, and publications.
  • It will discuss the paradigms underpinning MMR, outline some of the principles to be considered –research design, triangulation, analyses – and provide an opportunity to use a mixture of data to explore the advantages and limitations of MMR.

At the end of the workshop, participants should feel greater confidence in engaging with mixed methods research.
