Bangor University launches Civil Society research centre

Today sees the launch at Bangor University of the ESRC Civil Society centre: Changing Perspectives on Civic Stratification and Civil Repair.

At the launch, Bangor University’s Pro-Vice Chancellor for Research, Professor Paul Spencer and WISERD Director Professor Sally Power, Cardiff University, will talk about WISERD, its role in Wales and the ways in which researchers at Bangor can contribute and benefit.

At Bangor University WISERD is led by two Co-Directors – Professor Martina Feilzer and Dr Robin Mann, who will also be speaking at the event.

In 2019, WISERD received a third tranche of ESRC funding for a research centre on aspects of civil society, specifically in relation to social cohesion and stratification. The research explores the dynamics of inclusion and exclusion in communities, labour markets and the practice of citizenship.

Under this new research centre Bangor University academics are starting a new research project on borders, boundary mechanisms and migration – read more information about the project.

Over the next few months, Bangor University will contribute to WISERD’s series of online research seminars and training.
