Richard returned to education at age 33 after doing a variety of jobs, including construction work, manufacturing and retail. His return to education has included a Sociology with Criminology undergraduate degree at the University of South Wales. MSc in Social Science Research Methods at Cardiff University. And an Economic and Social Research Council funded PhD qualitative study that explored the school-to-work transition and masculine identity of a group of marginalised young men from the South Wales valleys, whilst also considering the impact of predicted future employment changes.
Current WISERD Projects:
Richard’s current post-doctoral research role involves publishing from his PhD thesis and disseminating his research findings to relevant organisations. He also aims to identify opportunities to continue his research and further explore several important findings from his PhD, deliver impact and increase employment opportunities for marginalised young men.
