Biography

My interest in sport started from an early age through competitive swimming and I went on to train as an athlete for 15 years. I took brilliant experiences away from my time in sport and am passionate about helping women and girls to have the same experiences and benefits at whichever level they play or are involved with. I went on to study International Relations at undergraduate level and later completed a master’s in Library and Information Sciences. Through both degrees I optioned topics on my interest in gender equality. Studying at PhD level has allowed me to combine my passion for sport with my interest in gender equality.

Current Research

I am an ESRC funded PhD researcher in the School of Social Sciences based in WISERD. My research/thesis topic is gender equality in Welsh sports policy and I’m specifically examining women sports leaders and policy makers, how they are represented, their experience of Welsh gender equality policy-making and their effect on gender equality in sports policy making in Wales.
