This presentation provides an overview of the difficulties expressed by Key Stage 4 pupils in making choices regarding their transitions from compulsory education. Through a population level linkage study that combines data from the Careers Wales Career Check Survey with pupil level information from the National Pupil Database, the relative difficulties of Free School Meal eligible pupils in making careers decisions and what effects these decisions is explored. The association between FSM eligibility and career aspirations is also examined.
