Aly Passanante is a mixed-methods social scientist with a primary focus on qualitative methods. She holds an MSc in Violence, Conflict and Development from SOAS, University of London and a BA in Psychology and Peace & Conflict Studies from Swarthmore College.
Aly is currently working on two WISERD projects – Examining the Surveillance of Gypsy, Roma and Traveller (GRT) communities and Sustainable and Green Economies – alongside Martina Feilzer, Robin Mann and Sophie Wynne-Jones. She is particularly interested in community resilience and place-based innovations preparing for, responding to and recovering from complex challenges and/or crises.
Prior to joining Bangor University, Aly was a Research Fellow at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM). Previously, she worked within community-based organisations in rural Iowa and western Uganda, both at the nexus of conservation, community health, food systems and education.
