David Nash is a co-director of WISERD and Professor of Employment Relations at Cardiff Business School. His research involves a number of international and UK projects with a focus on the regulation of low pay and workplace conflict resolution. David has undertaken research projects for the Living Wage Foundation, the Advisory, Conciliation and Arbitration Service and the Labour Relations Agency. He has contributed to a wide range of practitioner reports as well as academic books and peer-reviewed journal articles in the field of employment relations.
David’s research interests focus on the evolution of employment relations in the UK, with particular attention to the rise of civil regulation, multi-level governance, and the evolving roles of employers, trade unions, and the state. His work has examined the voluntary Living Wage as a case of hybrid regulatory innovation, exploring how new actors, such as civil society organisations, shape employment outcomes and interact with traditional institutions.
