Kathleen has a PhD from the University of Nottingham, funded by a Wellcome Trust Biomedical Ethics Studentship, having previously graduated with a first class honours degree in Biology from Imperial College, and an MA with distinction in Biotechnological Law & Ethics from the University of Sheffield. Kathleen has interdisciplinary experience of undertaking qualitative research at Cardiff University on projects in the School of Social Sciences, School of Healthcare Sciences, and the School of Engineering, before joining WISERD in October 2022.

Current Research: Exploring the mobilization of animal rights/welfare advocacy by Civil Society Organisations, and the use of artificial intelligence in political communication, as part of an interdisciplinary research team on the ‘New arenas for civic expansion: humans, animals, and Artificial Intelligence (A.I.)’ work package.
