This seminar provided an introduction to cohort studies from across the UK, drawing on speakers from the Avon Longitudinal Study of Parents and Children (ALSPAC), the Caerphilly Cohort Study and the Millennium Cohort Study.

These studies provided a range of health and social data reflecting life course transitions from birth through to later life. Though invaluable as research resources in themselves, linking these data with other (administrative) data increases the scope for social and medical research. This seminar provided an overview of several influential UK cohort studies, providing examples of linkages and drawing on their potential for future research use.
