Patrick is a postdoctoral research associate at Aberystwyth’s Department of Geography and Earth Sciences. He holds a PhD in Politics from the University of Edinburgh and completed his master’s and undergraduate studies at the University of Vienna. Between 2017 and 2021, Patrick was also a researcher at the Centre on Constitutional Change in Edinburgh.
Patrick contributes to the Horizon 2020 projects ROBUST: Rural-Urban Outlooks and IMAJINE: Integrative Mechanisms for Addressing Spatial Justice and Territorial Inequalities in Europe.
His research interests are regional politics and policies, nationalism and European integration. In his PhD thesis, Patrick investigated the impact of European integration on cross-border nationalism on the island of Ireland and in the region of Tyrol.
