Yongchao is a quantitative researcher currently working with Administrative Data Research (ADR) Wales, where she explores issues related to homelessness through the use of linked administrative data. Her recent work has also examined ethnic inequalities in children’s social care.
Her research broadly investigates how social institutions shape socioeconomic disparities across dimensions such as ethnicity and skill level. Yongchao holds a DPhil in Sociology from the University of Oxford, where her doctoral research focused on labour market inequality, drawing on cross-national survey data and applying multilevel regression techniques. She has also contributed to projects on migration and children’s mental and physical health in China.
