Sarbeswar Sahoo is Associate Professor of Sociology at the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, India. He was Charles Wallace Fellow at Queen’s University Belfast, UK and Alexander von Humboldt Fellow at Max Weber Kolleg, University of Erfurt, Germany. Sahoo has been collaborating closely with WISERD co-director, Professor Paul Chaney, on issues related to civil society and good governance.
Sahoo’s research interests include civil society and state relationship and sociology of religion in the South Asian context. He has published several peer reviewed journal articles and book chapters on these issues. He is the author of: “Civil Society and Democratisation in India: Institutions, Ideologies and Interests” (Routledge, 2013) and “Pentecostalism and Politics of Conversion in India” (Cambridge University Press, 2018).
